VMcast Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about our ViewMedica VMcast Waiting Room TV solution and the ordering process.

If you still have a question not covered on this page, please contact us and we will be happy to respond.

How do I get started?

If you already have a account, simply log in and enable the VMcast service. From your account Dashboard, click “Add/Remove Services” in your Account Settings. If you do not have a account, sign up for VMcast now.

Do I have to have internet access to use VMcast?

Yes. VMcast requires an internet connection because it is a streaming service. This benefits you in a couple of ways: the content is always the latest available and you can easily change your custom content at any time. You don’t have to worry about bandwidth issues. VMcast video files are optimized to be easy on your internet connection. Once you start using VMcast, it automatically saves all ViewMedica loop content to your device. That frees up your internet for other uses and allows VMcast to keep playing, even if your Wi-Fi connection temporarily drops. An internet connection is still needed to make sure your loops and other content are up-to-date.

Does VMcast have advertisements?

No. VMcast is ad-free. You are in full control of your waiting room tv experience. All loops are either created or selected by you.

What equipment do I need?

There are many affordable equipment solutions that you can use to get VMcast on your waiting room TV. All options use the free VMcast app. Some options include:

  • RECOMMENDED: Amazon’s Fire TV Stick or Fire TV
  • A PC Stick or Mini PC
  • A dedicated computer running Windows or macOS that can connect to your TV via an HDMI cable

Can VMcast be used on multiple TVs?

Yes. We recommend you use an HDMI splitter to send the video signal to multiple TVs. You can also connect separate internet-enabled devices to each TV. You will need to purchase a separate stream for each device that will run simultaneously.

Can I have multiple VMcast streams running at the same time?

Yes, but you will need to purchase a separate stream for each device that will run simultaneously.

How many videos can fit in one VMcast loop?

Your loop’s length is unlimited. It is up to you how many ViewMedica videos and custom content items are used in your VMcast loop.

Can I customize the VMcast content?

Yes. Take advantage of our custom content features. Add your own custom text slides, image slides, or videos to explain pre-operative or post-surgical instructions. Display HIPAA notices, your service hours, or feature your services and staff members. The possibilities are endless.

Can I include my own videos in my VMcast?

Yes. VMcast loops can include videos from your YouTube or Vimeo account. You can also upload videos to VMcast.

Can I have more than one VMcast Loop?

Yes. Create as many loops as you need. You can assign which loops to run for your VMcast. For example, a practice that schedules a certain type of patient on Tuesdays can schedule a tailored, patient-specific content loop.

Can you produce my custom image slides and promos?

Yes. Contact us to set up a consultation with one of our designers to plan out your custom design needs. Custom-produced slides and promos cost $50 each. Our design staff is well versed in what a medical practice needs in display content. We have access to a large collection of medical-related artwork that will make your image slides look professional. Most custom production orders can take anywhere from 3 - 5 days to complete. Depending on the volume, and if changes to proofs are required, additional time may be needed.
